Dear Mr. Rollins—

I haven’t seen that speech in print, yet, & so I don’t know whether it will need correcting or not. However, such things all always do get more or less crippled by the compositors; therefore, when you receive proofs from your report-printers, if you will send me the proof of my speech I shall be glad to revise & correct it.

I had a most enjoyable time in Philadelphia; & a part of it I owe to you, & wish to thank you for it.

With the new-year good wishes, & with warnings to you against furnishing any of the customary New-Year flagstones for perdition, I am

Truly Yours
S L Clemens
