Dear Charley—

A most important thing I forgot. Go to Mr. Green, at Tiffany’s, & tell him you want a diamond solitaire ring for Mrs. Clemens, to cost $250 or $300; & you pay for it & have it sent to Livy day after tomorrow (25th) so it will be sure to reach her for her birth-day which is the 27th. You need not write or give her any notice.
