Dear Pond—

O damnation, I would rather pay Cable $450 a week & his expenses than pay Nast $300.

I don’t enjoy roosting around & waiting. If you are able to give me an ultimatum from Cable by the 12 5 th of July, (a week hence), all right; but I don’t want it the 15 6 th, because on that day I shall have made other arrangements.
